We plan each month's box against your projected subscriber count four weeks ahead, pre-build to that number, and hold the assembled kits for the renewal wave. Your box ships on day one of the window, not day nine.
Cohorts handled without a catalog explosion
First-month boxes, gift subscriptions and the tier that gets the extra sample are different builds from the same component pool. You do not need a separate SKU tree for every permutation — we resolve it from the order attributes.
Components counted as components
Inventory is tracked at the piece level and at the assembled-kit level at the same time, so you always know whether you are short on boxes or short on what goes inside them. Those are very different problems in week three.
